LifeBalance is proud to offer supervision services for art therapists working to obtain their ATR, (an ATR-BC is one way to be grandfathered into to the new art therapy license recently signed into law by the New Jersey Governor) or supervision towards the NJ LPC license. There is also supervision offered of the NY LCAT license, as Rita also holds that license. Rita offers a didactic process where client artwork (with proper releases signed, of course), and verbal interactions, as well as non-verbal stances and behaviors are reviewed, discussed and new strategies to fit clients are explored to be implemented.
There are requirements for those with an LAC to be supervised. Please review the web site of the Professional Counselors Committee here: Professional Counselor Examiners Committee. LifeBalance clinician Rita Klachkin holds the ACS credential which is necessary to be a supervisor for LAC’s in NJ.
For the new art therapy license just signed by the Governor of New Jersey on 1/11/16, regulations are being formulated. This process will take up to or even over a year from now (2018 or later). Please follow the New Jersey Art Therapy Licensing Board’s web page, a division of NJ Consumer Affairs, which will be online soon and list public session meetings held by the committee, as well as meeting minutes.
For information on the requirements for the NY LCAT license, please see the office of professions website here: New York Department of Education, LCAT Requirements
